It's time for a nature post! One of my husband's loves is off-roading, and I don't mind going when the scenery is camera-worthy! On this particular trip, we spent a weekend in Aspen during the fall, right when the leaves are turning. There is nothing quite like the spectacular mountains of Colorado in the fall. It's one of the most beautiful things, and should be added to the 7 wonders of the world. Here are a few pictures from our trip...

The Gonzales Family
Alright - I'll admit it. This is my family. I did pictures for my cousins and my aunt a few falls ago. I love doing shoots outside because Colorado has some of the best natural lighting you can find! And when the weather is beautiful, it really shows in the pictures!

The Hernandez Family
I often get asked if I do large families. I do! It's usually one of the biggest challenges for me, especially when they contain large groups of small children! Getting one two year old to smile can be challenge enough -- but what about when you want three of them to do it? Whew! It can wear someone out. They are often the most fun shoots to do though because you're working with such large, tight knit families that are usually just genuinely having a great time!
The Hernandez family was no exception, and they might have to take up several blog entries. For this first one, I'd like to focus on the baby of the bunch...now just tell me that she is not a doll?!

The Manzanares Family
Another challenging shoot for me was the Manzanares family. Typically, my challenging shoots come from those with multiple children, but, on this particular Saturday, 18 month old Preston was being...well, 18 months old! You can't expect much from kiddos in that age group, and so it took patience and lots of clicking to get the job done that day. I was pleased with how the pictures turned out though. They brought the family dog with them...if I didn't already have two pups at home, this dog would have convinced me to go run out and buy a dog. What a cute family!

The Stodghills!
My second maternity shoot ever (and my first in the studio) was Beth and her family. Her son, Killian was also extremely cute and fun to work with! They were really a great family all around. It was actually one of my first studio shoots ever, so I was still experimenting and learning the lights as well.. The shoot turned out to be pretty easy, and I loved being able to experiment a little with maternity pictures. We ended up getting so many great shots, it was hard to pick and choose from them, so we ended up saving more than usual! Here's a few of my favorites:
And the even better news is that later that day, baby Brooklyn was born! I guess you could say that we did that shoot just in time!

The Benedicts!
Another one of those families that just had me over my head with excitement was the Benedict's. The youngest, Colton, was adorable, and oh so photogenic. His smile just lit me up, and I was so excited to go home and get the pictures edited. It helped that the rest of the family was fun, cooperative, and enjoyed their session as much as I enjoyed shooting it.

The Nichols!
Innovative Images has joined the blogging world of photographers! It has been quite the journey in the last two years as I've built up my business. I feel I have come so far, and experienced and learned so many things. My photography life has really blossomed.
I have not had very many sessions as of late due to my back problems. I'm hoping as the weather begins to turn, and my back begins to strengthen, I'll be right back out there with my camera!
For now, I thought I would share pictures from one of my favorite sessions. The Nichol's were a great family of four. We met at a park in Golden that was new to me, and it turned out to be a nice place to shoot.
The youngest son, Trevor, was about 18 months old, and wasn't having a great day. The shoot turned out to be challenging for me in many ways as he wasn't too interested in cooperating (are any toddlers?!).
In the end though, I love some of the shots we captured that day, and it really showed me that I'm up for the difficult challenges that may come my way as a photographer.
